the express is a good news paper

No offence but that might be your problem! McLaren or Lewis will not be kicked out if they are then I’m pretty sure F1 will go down the shitter and the FIA will have doomed the whole sport! They may get a huge fine and a million gird penalties though.

mclaren has gone from hero to zero in one race :yikes:

I'm sure McLaren fans are used to it by now!

The circumstances are, of course, very different on this occasion. :/

They could allow McLaren to continue racing, but say that they will not receive any points this year. So they still get exposure keeping the team (and F1) alive, but are out of the championships.

But they might leave HK in the championship. Now, that would create an interesting situation inside McLaren, would it not?

The Daily Mail is reactionary, fascist garbage. I wouldn't even wipe my arse with it. Why can't Allen tell us what real papers are saying?

Maybe the real papers aren't really covering it. I'll do my own scope.

I *love* the Daily Wail. It's fabulous. Every day they have at last one story proclaiming how the End is Nigh. It's not exactly know for it's unbiased, quality journalism though :hehe:

I really can't see McLaren being kicked out. It would be a total farce if they were. Mind you, stranger things have happened in F1 :(

It would create an interesting situation, indeed. Though Kovalainen has seemed to be able to get to grips with the car better than Lewis over testing and practice so far, so that situation could arise either way.

It's a lesser punishment (and more realistic) than kicking them out.

Lewis has already been punished!

The question that seems to be being asked is whether that punishment is sufficient.

I think so.

losing 6 points and a damaged rep isnt enough though? do people want blood or something?
if this didnt involve McLaren say it was Ferrari would there be talk of them being kicked out of the championship? NOT A CHANCE

I would expect a bit more punishment if the cheating is as blatant as it has been described. To have a proper deterrent to cheating, the penalty has to be considerably larger than the potential gain. And I think the loss of points from the race in question is insufficient. A couple of races as happened to Honda a few years ago might be fair.

But the FIA wouldn't, I think, ban McLaren for a few races. They'd do some fudge like not award them points for those races, but leave them racing, which would have cars competing or not competing in the championship in the same race. Can of worms.
