Why are some people talking about this situation and comparing to last year?? Last year's McLaren car was different, this year's car doesn't even belong in top 7 or 8. We ALL KNOW Hamilton doesn't even belong top 10 places in Australia with his car yet he got fourth due to other circumstances, so he lost a place that wasn't his in the first place, is this gonna affect Hamilton's championship run this year?? do you think the McLaren can turn it around fast enough to fight for the Championship??
he overtook 8 people...
so before you spout on about that, he earned that place and the FIA took it from him because they hate Mclaren if a Ferrari driver when thought he same circumstances then it would of been overlooked.
Name that 8 "fast" cars he OVERTOOK
Some footage of Hamilton slowing. Quite a speed difference, to be honest, and it's a pretty quick drop from decent pace to low pace. Staying off the racing line, too.

Trulli slows down at the end of the clip ...............once he's past the recovery vehicle taking up half the track.
First post/new member. Can't be silent on this; will try to keep it short.
I may be done with F1 after this. I said the same thing last year after the '08 Spa scandal but still came back.
Hamilton didn't lie about the events on track in '08 but was still penalized despite "following the rules." This time he "lied?" and was punished but Trulli got to keep 3rd spot despite confirming he passed Hamilton under safety. I can't think of any other sport where what the contenders say overrides what they do on the track/field/etc. So why the inconsistency when ruling against drivers; lies or not?
A lot of this has probably already been stated but this time Hamilton only let Trulli pass in an attempt to MEET the regulations (can't blame him after what happened last year) and still loses completely. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I'd recommend he just drive and think of nothing else the rest of the season since he'll be treated the same either way. Should make for a less stressful year. Hell, I think even Ron Dennis' stepping aside had to do with much of the stress over the past 2 seasons.
If I don't bother to watch anymore at least I'll save some money. My cable company (Comcast) only offers Speed (NOT in HD!) as part of an $8/mth sports pack. Add to that the roughly 15 bucks more for the dvr box just for access to that sports pack and watching F1 has not been a cheap each month. Guess I'll go back to downloading torrents of the races while dodging spoilers of the results as I did years ago. Maybe I'll catch a few of the races on Fox instead.

one of the slow cars on the field still finished ahead of most of it.
good drive well earned 4th if not 3rd until the FIA get involved, when they didn't really need too

If Hamilton truely earned that 4th, then Kubica earned that 2nd until Vettel took it from him.
Kubca-DNF
Vettel-DNF
Massa-DNF
Kimi-DNF
Neslon-DNF
Heidfeld-damaged
Naka-DNF
Toyota-Started from the pit
Nico-Pit problem
Heikki-DNF
Webber-damaged
Force Indai-now who doesn't pass up these guys??
Truilli- LH passed him TWICE, one on the safety car, another after the race
Alonso- He did passed Alonso, but I don't think they were even within 100ft of each other all day.
Mate you need to stop putting a smoke screen on how great LH and McLaren is at Australia. They currently have a dog of a car and they are were they should be until they can improve on the design.
One post and you are done, nice contribution and a true F1 fan

To respond to some of the other posts: not sure I'm ready to call F1 outright racist yet. Even if a number of people involved are, it may not be fair to group them all together (the Max Mosely video comes to mind; how did he ever manage to keep his job after that?) I will admit though that the FIA is clearly beginning to practice double standards. At least against Mclaren and/or its driver(s).
