Will Schumi buy an F1 team?

Michael Schumacher’s manager has hinted that Schumacher may be thinking of buying a Formula One team. Schumi is already an advisor for Ferrari, his old team, however rumours say that Scuderia Toro Rosso – the other Italian team in F1 – is attracting his eye.

Willi Webber, Schumi’s manager, is quoted as saying, “Perhaps we will go and ask a billionaire if he wants to sell us his spare team. I don’t know it for sure, but I could imagine that Michael buys a team. But he is never going to be Ferrari’s team boss. All that responsibility, work and stress – why would Michael Schumacher want to do that? But if he owned a team, it would be a different task.”

Toro Rosso is owned by Gerhard Berger and Dietrich Mateschitz. Mateschitz has recently ranked 287th in Forbes magazine’s list of 2007 billionaires.
