With new rules for qualification and practice coming into force in 2007, it means that teams can run different drivers on Fridays. However, as testing has been cut back, many regular drivers want to spend this time in their cars so they do as many miles as possible. This means many teams will be running their race drivers on the Friday sessions so newcomers get even less of a chance in the Formula 1 cars.
To counter this, Super Aguri have thought of a new proposal – that teams must be forced to run a test driver on the Friday session. Their idea will be discussed at the F1 Commission’s meeting next week. If they agree, the idea will be passed to the World Council for approval. However, unless all the teams agree to the proposal, it will not be enforced.
