Ross Brawn believes that Mercedes GP must not give up on this season and instead continue to try to close the gap on the teams in front.
Following the Canadian Grand Prix, the Brackley-based team has found itself 107 points adrift of McLaren in the constructors championship. Furthermore, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher have failed to mount a serious challenge for the drivers’ title.
Despite this, the Mercedes team-principal says that it is too early to switch focus on next year’s car and that the front runners are still catchable
When asked whether the team was concentrating this season or the next, Brawn is quoted by Autosport as saying: “Both at the moment.
“I think everybody is looking at next year’s car now, all the teams, but we still have some pretty important things we want to do with this car over the next few races.
“Then we will have to reflect on the position for the second half of the season. We are not holding back on this car, for sure.”
