Michael Ammermuller is to be Red Bull’s reserve driver in the 2007 season according to their motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko. Robert Doornbos apparently has too many clashes because of his commitment to the Champ Car series and so Ammermuller was promoted to the position.
Like Doornbos, Ammermuller will also be racing in another championship – the GP2 series – so there should be no conflicts in his calendar. Should Coulthard or Webber be unable to race though, Ammermuller will be forced to give up his GP2 seat for the weekend and jump into the Formula 1 raceseat instead.
In 2006, Ammermuller drove for the GP2 team, Arden. In 2007, Ammermuller will be driving for ART.
