Rumours over the future of Ralf Schumacher continue over the revelation that the German driver has been invited to race in the German touring car series, DTM.
Hans-Werner Aufrecht, chairman of the organising body the ITR, has said he could see a on-track duel between former Formula 1 drivers Mika Hakkinen and Ralf Schumacher.
“DRM does need names such as those,†Aufrecht remarked. “I am convinced that, with a competitive car ar his disposal, Ralf Schumacher could play an important role in the DRM. No doubt he would be a good fit with us.â€
Motor sport boss, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, is of the same opinion. “Without a doubt, Schumacher is a popular German F1 driver. It he comes and fully supports the series, he can be an asset for DRM.â€
However, nothing is yet confirmed and Hans Mahr, Schumacher s manager, has said his focus is on prolonging Schumacher s career in Formula 1 for as long as possible, although he is not ruling out a move to DTM. “We will definitely not be so arrogant as to say that the DTM is uninteresting to us,†he explained.
