Williams – we are happy with pace

Williams F1Williams Technical Director Sam Michael has stated hs is encouraged by the improving form of their FW29 car. Reliability seems to be the small concern for the Williams team with Rosberg having to retire from the Malaysian Grand Prix having qualified in sixth, and Alex Wurz suffering from gearbox troubles.

“The race was good,” Michael explained. “One again, we showed we have a good race pace. We’re better in qualifying now, as you could see from Nico. It was a bit of a shame really, because he’d done everything right and brought the car up into sixth place.”

Wurz is proving to be a good signing, starting in 19th place and making his way up the field to finish ninth. “He did a good job to make up 10 places from 19th to 9th,” Michael continued. “His fastest lap was within about one and a half tenths of Nico, so he obviously  found his form during the race, which is great. It is a shame he missed out on the points, but to go up 10 places is pretty impressive. He got hooked up really well.

“I’m quite happy with the way the pace is going. We need more – you always do; We just need to get on top of the reliability problems.”
