Williams have confirmed that their two drivers for 2008 will be Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima.
The announcement comes after rumours that Alonso and Rosberg were to swap places for the 2008 season although Williams have always been adamant that Rosberg would remain with the team. The news means Rosberg will be in his third year with the team whilst Nakajima will enjoy his first full season in the top flight having been the official test and reserve driver for the team in 2007.
I am delighted to confirm that Nico will be racing for the team for his third consecutive year after demonstrating impressive and widely applauded form in 2007,” Frank Williams said. “Nico will be ably partnered by Kazuki, who has impressed the team over the past year. He has pace and the right aptitude to develop into a competitive Formula One racer and over the course of the next season, we will provide him with all the necessary support and assistance to hone his talents.”
