Mark Webber topped the timesheets in the first practice session for Sunday’s German Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver was followed by Brawn GP’s Jenson Button, with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa in third.
The session saw plenty of action as variable weather conditions played havoc with the team’s preparations. A short sprinkle of rain and cold track temperatures, put paid to any dry running, early on in the session, and possibily signalled the weather for the weekend ahead.
The drama did not stop there as a number of drivers experienced problems. Lewis Hamilton suffered a suspected KERS issue in his Mclaren, but this was nothing in comparison to both Adrian Sutil and Sebastian Vettel. The two German heroes stopped out on circuit and compromised their sessions.
Although Vettel’s technical problem was deemed only minor, the German was not able to improve on his time in the dying minutes of the session.
