Testing Crash ends Ferrari’s week of misery

FerrariFerrari continued to be hampered by bad weather during their final day of testing at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy. On a damp track, Raikkonen was only able to complete an installation before lunch, but as the track dried in the afternoon he completed 52 laps and set a best time of 1:19.758 in the Ferrari 248.

His Brazilian team-mate suffered worse luck, completing just a couple of laps before losing control on the Roma corner and crashing heavily into tyre barriers. Massa emerged uninjured, but it took the team several hours to repair considerable damage to the front of the new F2007. Felipe did eventually return to the track, completing 9 laps with a best time of 1:22.279, before a technical problem eventually signalled his retirement and the end of a difficult week for the Ferrari team.

Now behind in their development program, the Maranello based team will move to Valencia’s ‘Ricardo Tormo’ circuit on Tuesday, where it is anticipated that Kimi Raikkonen will have his first drive of the F2007 car. The Finn will be joined by seasoned tester, Luca Badoer.
