Suspension problems for Massa

Stefano Domenicali has revealed that it was a suspension problem which forced Felipe Massa to retire from the Italian Grand Prix.

Massa and Hamilton banged wheels near the start of the race, and a few laps later, Massa came in for an unexpected pit-stop. Unfortunately, his tyre change did nothing to alleviate his problems and he was forced to retire on the next lap.

“We still have to look into it more closely,” Domenicali said. “But it seems to be probably a problem of the suspension.”

Felipe Massa has now acknowledged that his title hopes are probably over having slipped to fourth in the Drivers Championship, 23 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton. When asked about his title hopes Massa remarked, “Impossible no, but for sure not easy. I ll just keep my head up and be competitive I m sure we can fight for more victories.”

Massa isn t blaming Hamilton for his retirement however. “He had a better line and Alonso just braked in front of me,” he explained.
