Scott Speed has dismissed claims his party-animal ways nearly cost him his Formula 1 seat saying the rumours are “ridiculous.” The American driver was the last driver in the field to be announced. Toro Rosso owner Gerhard Berger said that he had doubts over Speed’s commitment to the sport.
“It is ridiculous!” Speed exclaimed. “For sure I am the person in the paddock who parties the least. I don’t even drink alcohol!”
Despite clocking up a DNF at the season opener, Speed put in an impressive performance, out-qualifying and out-performning his teammate, Tonio Liuzzi before having to stop due to two deflating tyres.
