According to reports, Sir Jackie Stewart was taken ill onboard a flight from the Geneva motor show to the UK. Stewart is understood to have experienced chest pains and then passed out, however he was conscious when the plane landed and was seen talking to paramedics before being taken away by ambulance.
Stewart’s son Paul explained to the BBC, “I’ve just spoken to him. He seemed absolutely fine.
“He did pass out and as a precaution was taken to hospital. Obviously we need to establish what happened.
“Hopefully he’ll be checked over and it will be nothing more sinister.”
A BA spokesman said: “Our flight crew requested a priority landing so that a male passenger could receive medical attention immediately on arrival. Cabin crew cared for the customer during the flight. We wish him well.”
