Last October, Shell Motorsport asked Schumacher fans to post him goodbye messages on their online guestbook. Thousands of messages flooded in to pay homage to the most successful F1 driver in history and Shell felt it would be appropriate to create a book of appreciation.
In Poland this week, and the Shell V-Power launch at the Poznan circuit, the specially bound presentation book entitled ‘A Thank You’ was given to Schumacher, who was thrilled and surprised by the gift.
“I have received so many messages from people around the world since I retired,” Schumacher started. “But this is one of the most special things I have been given. Please say thank you to the people who sent the messages to me – I am very happy to receive them.”
Global Sponsorships Manager at Shell, Alberto Friedrich, said, “Presenting this book to Michael was a very special moment for Shell. Michael’s contribution to our team has been immeasurable. There was no better way to say thank you to someone who has been such a key part of our Formula 1 success than to pass on the comments from the fans at Shell Motorsport. But this is not the end. We are happy Michael and Shell will continue to collaborate for the future.”
