Sam Michael’s last race for Williams will be Korean GP

It has emerged that the Korean Grand Prix in October will be the final race for Williams’ departing technical director Sam Michael.

Autohebdo.fr, reported that the Australian is not sure if he will then revert to a factory-based job or be sent on ‘gardening leave’ as the British team looks ahead to 2012.

“Most of the technical directors go to the races, but the (new) structure at Williams means that he will not,” Michael said. “Mark Gillan is the chief engineer and he will be in Japan and Korea and he will then take my place.”

Although Michael has yet to announce his plans post-Williams, he has been linked to a move to Force India. It is also rumoured that both Ferrari and Mercedes are interested in the 40-year old working for them.
