Nico Rosberg led a Williams one-two in opening practice for the Spanish Grand Prix, despite stopping out on the circuit with less than a minute to go.
The young German finished just over a tenth of a second ahead of his team mate Kazuki Nakajima, who was an impressive second. Fernando Alonso also gave his home fans something to cheer about by rounding out the top three.
This afternoon’s session yet again proved to be difficult for last year’s title contenders, with Ferrari, Mclaren and BMW languishing near the bottom of the times.
