On the third day of testing at Jerez, Red Bull Racing showed impressive pace with Mark Webber topping the timesheets, over half a second clear of second placed man Rosberg. McLaren were surprisingly off the pace with Hamilton finishing in sixth, and Kovalainen in tenth.
Local hero Fernando Alonso came home in fourth, with around 4,000 fans turning out to support him.
Honda are still showing little sign of improvement, with Button and Barrichello again finishing in the bottom four.
There were two red flags during the test session the first was caused by the RB4 of David Coulthard when he went off at Turn 1 mid-morning. The second red flag was caused by Nelsinho Piquet whose Renault R28 stopped on the start-finish straight mid-afternoon, leaving a small pool of oil on the circuit.
