Prodromou moves to Red Bull

Peter Prodomou, former aerodynamics guru at McLaren, has started work today with Red Bull Racing to complete a notable coup for the Milton Keynes based team. Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey, also an ex-McLaren man, had hand-picked Prodomou as someone he wanted to lure away from McLaren.

Newey and Prodomou are widely credited as having overseen the design of McLaren’s highly successful MP4-20 chassis. This was widely seen as the fastest Formula 1 car of the 2005 season, winning 10 Grands Prix. Renault only managed 8 wins even though they eventually lifted the title.

With a technical team boasting not only Newey and Prodromou but also Rob Marshall and Mark Smith, both ex-Renault, as Chief Designer and Technical Director respectively, and Ben Agathangelou, ex-Jaguar Racing, as the Senior Aerodynamicist, and with the cars running the Renault engines for the 2007 season, it looks like Red Bull may be a force to be reckoned with.
