Petrov Handed Five Place Grid Penalty

Renault’s Vitaly Petrov has been handed a five place grid slot penalty for the start of the next race thanks to the accident that marred the start of the 2010 Japanese Grand Prix.

The Renualt driver made contact with the Williams of Nico Hulkenberg before ending up in a wall and causing Hulkenberg to retire.

Ferrari’s Felipe Massa has escaped penalty following his prang with Force India’s Tonio Liuzzi at the first corner. The stewards investigated the incident and have decided that the crash was a racing incident that does not warrant a penalty for the Brazilian driver.
