Peter Kerr dies

Peter Kerr, a former Formula 1 chief mechanic who is often referred to as the ‘professor of mechanics’, has died.

New Zealander Kerr was a respected F1 mechanic who worked with the likes ot Niki Lauda and Ronnie Peterson during his time at Max Moseley’s March team. He then moved on to the Shadow team, before heading over to Arrows, where he remained in their Research & Development team until he retired. It was here that his expertise shone through and his job title, ‘professor or mechanics’, also became his nickname.
