New wings for Toro Rosso

Toro RossoThe Toro Rosso team will be using a new aero package at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend. The revisions are so new that so far, they have only been tested in the wind tunnel and not on a track.

At the recent test at the Paul Ricard circuit, Toro Rosso did run some Montreal simulations however the new components were not ready at the time so they were unable to test the new package on-track.

Technical director Giorgio Ascanelli explained, “We will be running new front and rear wings to suit the low-downforce nature of the track. The front wing also requires new bargeboards and all these items will have their first track test on Friday. For now, we are having to trust our wind tunnel data.”

And a new aero package is not the only new component on the STR2. “Of course we have new braking solutions for this track, which is the hardest on the brakes, while also keeping some elements of our Monaco pacake as Montral is also a soft tyre, bumpy circuit,” Ascanelli continued. “There are further changes aimed at improving reliability.”
