Practice session 3 was a session rife with drama. The McLaren of Fernando Alonso dominated the session, ahead of team-mate Lewis Hamilton who finished the day in second.
The biggest drama cam courtesy of Kimi Raikkonen on his fourth lap f the morning. Braking for the Ascari chicane, his car snapped right, glanced off the wall and then hit the tyre barriers head on. Marshals had to help the Finn out of his decimated Ferrari, however he was none the worse for wear and was soon back at the Ferrari garage discussing the incident. His accident caused a 21 minute delay while his car was removed from the track and the tyre wall put back together again.
Felipe Massa came in third for Ferrari with BMW continuing to be the strongest challengers to the top two teams with Heidfeld finishing fourth and Kubica in fifth.
