Businessman Michiel Mol has confirmed he is interested in buying the Spyker F1 team. Last week, Mol resigned as CEO of the Spyker roadcar company to prevent a conflict of interest after the Spyker roadcar company announced they were looking to sell off the F1 team to help secure their short-term financial liquidity. Mol’s resignation prompted speculation that he was putting together a deal to buy the Formula 1 team.
There is no guarantee that if Mol does bid for the team, he will win, however it is the first time he has publicly confirmed he is interested in the orange-clad team. “There’s not much I can say right now about the situation at Spyker,” he explained. “We’re currently looking in to several scenarios, but one option is to buy the team from Spyker.”
