The FIA have put an end to McLaren s spying saga by giving their MP4-23 car the go-ahead to compete in the forthcoming season.
The World Motor Sport Council was due to meet in February to determine the eligibility of McLaren s 208 car however the FIA have chosen to accept Max Mosley s recommendation of drawing a line under the spying plans by canceling the February meet and giving McLaren the go-ahead for next season.
The WMSC was intending to meet to decide whether the MP4-23 had any form of Ferrari intellectual property on it following inspections by the FIA s technical department. McLaren have apologized for the espionage saga and in a statement said they had overhauled their internal procedures to prevent a recurrence. They also offered to stop the development of three contentious areas on their new challenger.
