ICA Set Date for McLaren’s ‘Hungary’ Appeal

The FIA have set a date for Team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes to appeal their punishment from the Hungarian Grand Prix race weekend. Following a controversial Qualifying Session, Stewards punished the Woking based outfit for behaviour which they felt was prejudicial to the interests of the competition and to the interests of motor sport generally . The punishment served was to void all Constructor points accrued during the race and the team representative expelled from the post race podium celebrations.

The FIA press release read, “The International Court of Appeal (ICA) will meet in Paris on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 to hear an appeal lodged by the Motor Sports Association on behalf of its licence-holder Vodafone McLaren Mercedes concerning a decision of the Panel of the Stewards of the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix.”

“In the interests of transparency the hearing will be open to members of the press and details of the accreditation procedure will be published closer to the time.”
