Ferrari and McLaren chiefs have laughed off the absurd rumours doing the rounds on Friday that Lewis Hamilton is set to move to Ferrari.
The Times published photographs of a secret conversation between Anthony Hamilton, Lewis’s father and manager, and Ferrari’s Team Principal Stefano Domenicali, outside a Mercedes-Benz party at Hockenheim.
But Mercedes-Benz vice president Norbert Haug and Domenicali himself have dismissed the rumours, Haug joking with the Italian that the location for the meeting was hardly secretive:
“I think that’s a great place to start negotiations with our driver, behind the Mercedes grandstand,” Haug joked.
Domenicali added that the meeting had little substance. “He just came up behind me and said hello and that’s it, very easy,” he said.
