Massa wins Bandini award

Ferrari’s Felipe Massa has won the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini award. The award is given annually to an outstanding Formula 1 driver. Normally, the award is given on the weekend of the San Marino Grand Prix, however as San Marino is not on the calendar for the 2007 season, Massa will receive the aware in Italy on May 6th.

The award is in memory of Lorenzo Bandini, one of the leading drivers of his time, who burnt to death after an accident in 1967 at Monaco.

Previous winners of the awrad include Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, Michael Schumacher, Alex Wurz and Kimi Raikkonen. Massa had an excellent 2006 season, finishing third overall. He celebrated his first win in Turkey having started from the front, and ended the season on a high note, winning his home race in Brazil.
