Massa: we’re not second best yet

felipe-massa-interview-1.jpgFelipe Massa has said that he does not believe Ferrari are the second best team on the grid yet. The Brazilian was speaking after a good result for the Prancing Horse in Monaco, where he finished fourth with Kimi Raikkonen third.

But Massa said that it was nip and tuck between his team and the Red Bull squad, whose Mark Webber raced them closely in Monte Carlo.

“I think maybe we need a couple of races to be sure that we are the second strongest team. For the moment I think it is too early to say Red Bull sometimes they are very, very strong and sometimes they are a little bit less,” Felipe told Autosport.

“So I think we need to wait for Turkey and another race to see where we are. We need to make more points, we need to finish the next race in front of Red Bull, and hopefully in front of Brawn as well, to show that we can be the second team and fight every race to be on the podium and maybe to win the races.”

Massa stopped short of speaking about the world championship, as he has acknowledged that perhaps this year it is beyond his grasp. Although mathematically the Brazilian’s chance will remain for the next few races, the versatility of the Brawn car suggests a straightforward championship for Jenson Button.
