Magny-Cours will be on the 2008 F1 calendar

Bernie Ecclestone has agreed to keep Magny-Cours on the Formula One calendar for 2008.

The Magny-Cours circuit has suffered from poor attendance in the past few years and Ecclestone previously intoned that the track would not make it into the F1 calendar in the future. “There is no future for Magny-Cours,” he said recently. “2007 will be the last race at this circuit. We should not have gone there in the first place, and we only did so because of former president Jean-Marie Balestre.”

Last week, the French motorsport federation, the FFSA, announced they were still determined to fulfill their current contract, which runs out in 2011 however they were looking for alternative venues to hold the French Grand Prix.

Francois Fillon, the French Prime Minister, met with Bernie Ecclestone on Tuesday. It is reported that an agreement has been reached to keep the race at Magny-Cours for 2008.
