British based sportscar company Lotus, owned by Malaysian carmaker Proton, has joined Renault as title sponsor and significant stakeholder. This means that the team will now be running under a British license.
“Lotus is an English manufacturer,” Eric Boullier, Lotus Renault team principal said. “We will be running under a British license now. It means that it we win, we will play the British national anthem – and that is important for everybody inside the team. We are rebranding everything inside the company now.”
Lotus Renault have contracts with drivers Petrov and Kubica and their cars will sport a new gold and black livery for 2011.
