Ex-Formula 1 driver Niki Lauda is the latest star to tip Hamilton to do well this season, potentially even winning the title in his debut season. Hamilton is the first driver to achieve three podium finishes in their first three races. He is now sitting pretty at the top of the driver’s championship alongside Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.
Many followers of F1 are backing Hamilton to do well this season, however Lauda believes Hamilton has what it takes to win. “As unbelievable as it sounds, at the moment I can see Lewis Hamilton heading the ranking,” Lauda said. “Because of his young and clean experience, he is as fast as Alonso.”
Lauda continued by saying how he believes this season will become a classic. “This season will be the most exciting for years – we will not only see a shoot-out between the teams, but also amongst the team-mates.
“There will be a do or die fight between Alonso and Hamilton, and between Massa and Raikkonen. I hope they will not give any team orders until the last two races. At the moment, I cannot see a faster driver within either one of these teams so I don’t think will happen in the near future.”
