It has been announced that McLaren’s non-executive chairman Sir Richard Lapthorne has stepped down from his position with the group.
Lapthorne, who is also chairman at Cable & Wireless Communications, joined McLaren last April, following Ron Dennis’s decision to relinquish his duties in the team’s Formula One operation.
As well as serving as non-executive chairman of the McLaren Group, the 66-year-old was also a non-executive director of McLaren Automotive.
“We had a full list of issues last April.” he told The Times newspaper, “Ron and the team have been brilliant in working through them and with the road car company poised for a spin-off, my job’s done.”
