Christian Klien and current F2 champion Andy Soucek both remain hopeful of securing a drive in Formula One for the 2010 season.
USF1 and Campos have yet to name their second drivers and both men have said that they are in talks with both teams and are hoping to be offered the last two race-seats in the sport.
Klien remains hopeful of winning a race seat but has admitted that if he stays as a test and reserve driver, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
“The chances are still good,” Klein commented. “Until I no longer see a realistic chance, I will fight to take part in F1.
“Another year as a reserve driver would not be a catastrophe.”
Klien has also reaffirmed his commitment to Formula One by choosing not to take part in this year’s 24 hour race at Le Mans as it would clash with the Canadian Grand Prix. In the previous two years, Klien has driven for Peugeot in the endurance race.
Soucek meanwhile has said, despite earlier revealing that he did not have the budget to drive for Campos, that he is in talks with the Campos team.
“Right now nothing is signed but the negotiations have opened new fronts,” Soucek said.
“The two empty seats are with US F1 and Campos, but there are other possibilities, all of them in F1. I think to be third driver is a job I deserve, and I do not have to pay for it. I’m interested in that.”
