Ken Block F1 test called off

Ken Block’s test in the 2009 Toyota F1 car has been called off by Pirelli.

The American rallying star was set to drive the Toyota at Monza this week as F1’s official tyre supplier tests privately at the famous high-speed Italian grand prix venue however Block’s large stature – Block is 6 foot 2 and weighs in at 84 kilograms – has provided a stumbling block.

The Toyota was originally designed for Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock and was tested this week by Lucas di Grassi. According to Pirelli’s motor sport director Paul Hembery, Block is too big for the car.

“Ken is too big,” Hembery explained. “We are looking at running him in another car.”
