Christian Horner has said that he sees no reason why his star driver Sebastian Vettel would want to change teams at the moment. The Red Bull team boss, speaking in an interview with the official F1 website, said that Red Bull Racing had provided the young German with such an exceptional car this year that he did not think Vettel would be considering a move.
“Sebastian is very happy driving for this team – and we are very happy to have him. Red Bull Racing has provided him with a very good car this year. I can t imagine anywhere else that Sebastian would rather be at the moment and for next year I don t see any intention that he goes anywhere else,” said the Englishman.
Vettel has repeatedly been linked to a move to Ferrari by various influential people in the sport. The German’s rapid rise in the sport and success has drawn comparisons with compatriot Michael Schumacher. But Red Bull are ahead of Ferrari on the track at the moment, and Horner clearly believes it is in Vettel’s best interest to stay put.
Horner went on to praise his other driver, Mark Webber, who endured a cycling accident during the off-season and had a relatively insalubrious start to the season in comparison with Vettel.
“Mark had a very difficult winter. And if you consider what he had to deal with – a broken leg, and a broken shoulder that he had forgotten to tell us about – he made a remarkable recovery and has put all the winter malaises behind him. I must say that we have a very strong driver pairing,” continued the team principal.
Red Bull are currently lying second in the constructors’ championship behind Brawn GP, and Vettel looks to be the only serious threat to Jenson Button’s title aspirations at the present time.
