Lewis Hamilton will start in pole position for tomorrow’s Singapore Grand Prix after a late Rubens Barrichello crash brought out the red flags.
While on his final qualifying effort, Barrichello collided with the concrete wall, stopping the session and preventing any further running for the drivers. The incident will only add to the Brazilian’s misery, with the Brawn driver being forced to take a five place grid penalty for a gearbox change.
Jenson Button’s world championship chances were dealt a blow when the Brit was eliminated in the second segment of qualifying – loosing out to his other title rivals who made it into Q3.
As a consequence of Barrichello’s crash, both Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg had their final qualifying runs ruined having looked strong all session. They will start second and third respectively.
