Hamilton Dedicates Maiden Victory To Father Anthony

Lewis Hamilton kept his cool to secure his maiden F1 victory, while others around him lost theirs. Speaking after his win at the Canadian Grand Prix, the twenty-two year old boomed, “It has been a fantastic day, this is history. To come here the first time in Canada, been a fantastic season already, I have been ready for quite some time for the win but just when or when.”

Ever the gentleman he thanked his team for providing a perfect car . In just his sixth race in Formula One, the young Brit dominated the race, despite numerous accidents and safety car periods.

“The safety car made it a bit boring, but once we got going it got more exciting. We sat behind the safety car for quite some time and then dulled down for a while, then began building it back again. The team did a great job getting me in and out before the first Safety Car.”

With Hamilton setting new records in F1, he s become the man of the moment in international Motorsport, but his success has as much to do with his skill as the determination of his father Anthony, for which Lewis dedicated his win to. Anthony Hamilton sacrificed everything, even taking three jobs at one time, to ensure his son, Lewis, could fulfil his dream of joining the F1 circus.

“The last few laps I was just counting them down, I could see the board and I am the kind of guy to push until the end, and if you make one mistake you are on the marbles and in the wall. So I just wanted to enjoy it. I have to dedicate this one to my dad because without him it wouldn’t all be possible.”

“There is plenty of time to enjoy it. I have to say hello to all my family back home, and all the fans and the team – at Woking, Stuttgart and Brixworth who prepare the car.”

Next weekend, F1 moves to America and Hamilton is bullish about his prospects at the famous Brickyard.

“Going into Indy, I go there with great confidence; we have to try to continue with the performance we have.”
