Hamilton Declared Fit to Race

Lewis Hamilton will race in the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring today. The twenty-two year old crashed heavily during the final phase of qualifying yesterday after an airgun failed and the Brit s wheel came loose.

In a McLaren statement, the team said that following a medical check this morning, Lewis Hamilton has been given the green light.

“Vodafone McLaren Mercedes are pleased to confirm that Lewis Hamilton has been cleared to race in today’s European Grand Prix by the FIA medical delegate Dr Hartstein and chief medical officer of the event, Dr Klaus U Zerbian. The entire team looks forward to enjoying a competitive race this afternoon for both Fernando and Lewis.”

Having repaired his race car, Hamilton will start from tenth position, four rows behind his team-mate, Fernando Alonso, in second and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen on pole.
