Spyker may be regretting their decision not to test at Sepang pre-season, preferring instead to stay at the Silverstone factory to prepare their new bodywork package. However, with Albers and Sutil amongst the slowest qualifiers, and neither making the full race distance, Spyker’s technical chief Mike Gascoyne has admitted that missing the test may have been a mistake.
“Perhaps we should have,” he said. “The price for skipping the test was far higher than we had assessed. In Bahrain, I expect that we could again be at a disadvantage because we also did not go to the winter test.”
