Ecclestone urged to end customer car saga

Bernie Ecclestone is being urged to call a team principal s meeting at the Nurburgring this weekend in a bid to end the customer car row.

Two weeks ago, talks were held at the Silverstone circuit. All the teams agreed verbally to a series of compromises. One of the deals agreed to was where Spyker, Toro Rosso and Super Aguri would pool this year s money earnt from television rights. Future criteria for income for the teams from 20087 onwards was also sketched out.

It was hoped that lawyers acting for the teams would sign off on the agreement at the end of the British Grand Prix weekend. Super Aguri and Spyker were said to be happy with the deal with Toro Rosso not keen to sign on the deal quite yet. It is believed that Toro Rosso are happy with pooling this year s television money however they are not happy with next year s arrangements which would see customer car teams being ineligible for payment relating to constructors championship positions.

Toro Rosso have so far refused to comment on the situation with team principal Franz Tost remarking, “It s a management decision therefore we do not want to comment on them.”
