De la Rosa ready for McLaren drive

Pedro de la Rosa has said he is ready to step up to the plate and partner Lewis Hamilton next year if the team offer him the race-seat.

Since Fernando Alonso and McLaren parted ways earlier this month there has been much speculation over who the second seat at McLaren will go to. De la Rosa has been a test driver with the team since 2003 and his two more years left on his contract.

McLaren are in no rush to announce who will fill the second race-seat however de la Rosa is keen to land the drive. “At the moment the team is in no rush and neither am I,” he explained. “What is 100% certain is that I will be a McLaren test driver and I have two years left of my contract. If the team needs a driver, I am ready and willing that s for sure!”
