Engine manufacturer Cosworth has confirmed that it will part ways with Lotus at the end of the season, paving the way for the Norfolk-based team to link up with Renault.
According to Autosport the deal will could also include the use of Renault’s gearboxes and transmission, including its KERS system.
“Cosworth has reached an agreement in principle with Lotus Racing whereby the team’s Cosworth engine supply agreement will come to a conclusion at the end of the current Formula 1 season,” Cosworth said in a statement.
“This agreement is subject to contract and until the agreement is signed, neither party will be making any further comment.”
