McLaren’s Ron Dennis has said that he intends to limit media access to Lewis Hamilton this season to ensure that Hamilton does not become distracted in his Formula 1 debut season. Dennis has said that he is aware there is a lot of hype surrounding the GP2 champion’s promotion to Formula 1 and so he is planning to use “controlled exposure” to help Hamilton with the pressure.
“We will make Lewis available but we will certainly limit one-on-one because they are so massively time-consuming and can be very intrusive and distracting for a young driver,” Dennis explained. “In some instances, it’s like the young driver being thrown to the wolves and certainly that isn’t going to happen.”
