Despite a great drive at the Fuji Speedway over the weekend, Renault team boss Flavio Briatore has insisted that Nelson Piquet s future at the team has not yet been decided.
Many believe that Piquet has underperformed this season and there have been many rumours that he will not have a race-seat within the Renault team in 2009. However a great drive in Japan, which saw Piquet qualifying 12th and finishing in 4th, has silenced some of his critics and made many wonder whether the performance will ensure a race-seat next season.
“No,†Briatore explained to Formule 1 Race Report. “We will only decide at the end of the year what we are going to do. A single race is not really going to change our minds. It seems to be that it is natural he should be driving well.â€
