Bourdais more confident of Toro Rosso seat

Sebastian Bourdais is a likely candidate for the vacant Toro Rosso seat, his manager Nicolas Todt has said. Todt, son of Ferrari ex-principal Jean, explained to French radio Europe 1 that his charge has a strong chance of partnering Sebastian Buemi at the Italian team for the 2009 season.

“I am quite confident that something good will come out of [contract discussions] in the coming days,” said the Frenchman.

He added that nothing was certain yet, however. Bourdais will need to attract sponsorship to bring to the cash-strapped team, and he faces competition on the performance front from Takuma Sato, who impressed when testing for the team recently. Moreover, Bourdais is in demand in the US, where he was previously very successful.

For the moment, nothing is done. We are having discussions with Toro Rosso and also with other series, and right now nothing is set,” said his manager.
