Bernie Ecclestone has gone out on a limb and predicted Ferrari and Massa will win the 2007 titles. Massa is already entering the season as favourite, having shown some superb form at pre-season testing including setting a new lap record at the Sakhir track on his final day of testing.
The performance of Massa, and the Ferrari team as a whole, has led many to believe that the they are favourites to win the titles, and Bernie Ecclestone has said that he subsribes to this belief.
When asked who he thought would win the championship by Bild newspaper, Ecclestone replied, “Massa and Ferrari. Ferrari appear to be really strong and they’ll be in front at first.”
Ecclestone has also said that Massa would be greatly boosted by the backing of Michael Schumacher, his former teammater. “Schumacher was already a sort of team manager in the past,” Ecclestone explained. “He’ll be a big help for Mass this year.”
