Rubens Barrichello has sent a rallying call to his Williams team, as the FW32 once again struggled for pace around the Istanbul Park circuit.
Both Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg struggled for out-and-out speed around the demanding circuit and were forced to settle for fifteenth and seventeenth respectively.
As a result, veteran Barrichello has called for Williams to maintain its ‘fighting’ spirit in a bid to move the Cosworth-powered team closer to the front, as soon as possible.
Rubens Barrichello – 15th: In a way, we did well to achieve a good balance on the car for qualifying, but we are suffering with our top speeds here. The track doesn’t suit the car as much as Monaco did so we are struggling a little bit more than normal. We are far away from where we want to be, but Williams are fighters. We need to keep that spirit up and keep pushing to get to where we want to be.
Nico Hulkenberg – 17th:It was tough going today. On my second run in Q2, I picked up some oversteer at the exit of turn 7 which put me off line and unfortunately cost me my lap. We are pushing really hard at the moment and trying to squeeze all we can out of the car but we still have plenty of work to do. A lot can happen in the race so I’ll be giving it everything I can.
Sam Michael, Technical Director: Today’s result is clearly not where we want to be. We’re going through the data to look for the main differences to our competitors, but the obvious target is to bring more performance to the car for the forthcoming races. The track engineers will now concentrate on getting a good start tomorrow with a view to getting into the points.
