Nico Rosberg topped the timesheets for the second day in his Williams with a best time of 1:21.231, just under a tenth quicker than his teammate, Alex Wurz. Between them, they notched up 220 laps of the Barcelona circuit, with Rosberg working on mapping and set-ups, and Wurz concentrating on longer runs and race simulations. Rosberg will sit out the third day of testing, and Wurz will instead be joned on track by test driver Kazuki Nakajima.
The Spyker team also fielded both racedrivers on the second day of testing. Albers was the fastest of the two, although Sutil was under one tenth of a second behind. Both Spykers were well off the Williams pace, coming in around 2 seconds slower per lap. Spyker’s chief technical officer is happy with the car so far though.
“We had a reasonably productive day, working on the basic set-up and building up speed over a race distance,†he explained. “Adrian had no issues during the day, however, Christijan’s car developed a hydraulic leak that cut his race run short. It’s not a major issue though and we should be back out tomorrow.â€
