Aerodynamics chief Iley leaves Ferrari

Ferrari s head of aerodynamics and wind tunnel John Iley has left Ferrari according to Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. The major reason behind the decision appears to be Ferrari s lack of competitiveness this season and it appears that other key members of staff may also be in the firing line.

The team are said to believe that aerodynamics are the root cause of the F60 s problems with Ferrari failing to win a single race this season so far.

Iley joined Ferrari in 2003 from Renault. It appears he and Ferrari have reached a decision agreeing that his deal with the team would not be renewed and he will leave the team with immediate effect. It is also understood that he will not be allowed to join a rival team for at least six months. Iley was once tipped with a move to Honda and it is believed that once the six month period is up, he may join up with former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn at Brawn GP.

Iley s duties will now be taken up by chief designer Nikolas Tombazis.
